Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Janet McGee and my husband Scott and I pastor New Life Christian Church in Santa Maria, CA. New Life is two years old. I have been a pastor’s wife for 14 years. We have two grown daughters, Kellie and Lacey. Kellie (22) is married and she and her husband Jason lead worship at a church in San Jose, CA. Lacey (21) is a grad student at Cal State Fullerton where she is working on a Masters in French and teaching in a private school.

The life of a pastor’s wife comes with it’s own unique challenges. Throw church planting in the mix and that can make for a sometimes perilous journey. Church planting has forever changed my life. Our story is not one of instant growth and success, but one of struggle and doubt, of testing and refining; and finally a redefining of all that I am. You see, I thought I knew who I was. My identity was tied to being a mother and a wife, a daughter and a sister, a friend and a co-worker, and a servant of God. God used the trials of church planting to strip away all that I thought was me and He gave me a new identity, one that will never change. I am His beloved. I am the daughter that makes Him smile every morning and the one He has picked for His son…and so are you. Not for what kind of wife and mother or ministry partner that you are, but just for being you!

It is my heart’s prayer that this blog will be a source of en-couragement for you. It is our desire to be a source of support for you. To be available for prayer and encouragement. I pray this is the beginning of relationships that will last for eternity.
